I was not one of those kids who grew up watching grandma and mom cooking, nor watching dad or grandpa grilling.  I just enjoyed the eats! I did, however, watch my paternal grandma cook. I remember the smells, remember how she used lard and Crisco and used ancient (seemed like) cast iron skillets which had been passed down from her own grandmother. Wonderful memories. My story , however, is long, but, in a nutshell, when I divorced, I cooked for my sons. They were less than impressed.  I wanted to cook well for them.  After getting sick and having to stay in bed for two weeks (bad flu), I got hooked on a Food Network program, 30 Minute Meals with Rachael Ray, and I could not wait to get well to start cooking. 

I have been on an educational culinary journey for twelve years now, I started my learning food blog, In-House Cook on blogspot three years ago.  I share my recipes, share tips I have learned from the plethora of extremely talented, generous and giving Chefs I have made connections with and who have taken me under their wings. Incredible generosity and encouragement. I write about my successes, my failures, my disasters and what I have learned all along the way.  I believe that at any age, I am 55, you can learn a new skill set, you can learn the science and regulations pertaining to a new and flourishing passion.  Cooking pairs extremely well with teaching, as I am an elementary teacher, as I believe we are all life-long learners, everyone can learn and we can all share in our experiences and learn a bit more every day!  I am honored to be a part of Chefs Roll.  Thank You!
