I grew up in the society where
homemade cooking was a way of our life. Recipes, experience and skills were passed
on from generation to generation. My grand grandfather was a baker. He worked
in a small bakery by the central train station in the capital of Ukraine. The
business was owned by his aunts and passed on to him before WWI. Everything in
my family was revolving around this place and it was the same place where my
grandmother met her future husband before the WWII. My grand grandfather passed
his skill and love for baking of delicious pastry to my grandmother. Naturally,
my grandmother passed it on to me.
My grandmother liked to bake and
she baked a lot of sweet treats when I was a child. All children like sweets
and I was not an exception. My mother was working mom and she did not have
enough time to bake. So, I've started bake when I was a child used my
grandmother's recipes. I baked my first pastry when I was ten years old and I have
not stopped since that time. I baked sweet treats for me and my brother when I
was a child, later I baked for my friends then for my kids.
When I got a chance to study, I
choose baking and culinary art because this is my life. I've baked and prepared
food for forty years almost every day. Especially, I like baking because it
make me happy and gives me a lot of satisfaction. I prefer light, tender, and
airy creams. Also, I like fruits and jelly in pastry. I'm interested in healthy
pastry as well because prefer natural ingredients. I like create my own cakes
using knowledge and skills that I got in the college combining with my
experience. I like research, study and always looking for new ingredients,
technology and methods. I like to share my knowledge and skills with like-
minded people.
