The Beefsteak

Chef’s Roll threw a Beefsteak, on January 22nd, 2018 in San Diego. An all you can hold Beef & Beer event that featured 8 different cuts of Australia grass-fed beef and one cut of Australian lamb sponsored by True Aussie Beef & Lamb. All meat was cooked via live fire thanks to 8 KUDU Grills and 300 lbs of Jealous Devil charcoal.

Featuring the beef master of San Antonio and James Beard “Outstanding Restaurateur” Semifinalist Jason Dady, owner of Jason Dady Restaurant Group; live-fire centric chef and StarChefs Los Angeles Rising Chef 2017 Joe Johnson, Chef de Cuisine at Michelin-starred Chef Josiah Citrin’s Charcoal in Venice, CA; and Top Chef Mexico alum and upcoming Top Chef season 15 contestant Claudette Zepeda-Wilkins, Executive Chef of El Jardín in San Diego, CA. All Chefs were outfitted in Lost Car Chef Apparel to keep them looking as sharp as their knives!

Invited guests included 100+ Chefs and Culinary professionals from across the country. Tickets were also sold to some lucky food lovers and we raised $2,250 for the Chef’s Roll Chef’s Cycle Team supporting No Kid Hungry. In the end over 170 gullets were satisfied in true Beefsteak fashion with 700 lbs of meat perfectly plated on Front of the House platters and 90 gallons of 10 Barrel Brewing Co. beer! Famed photographer Josue Castro was also on hand to take his infamous B&W portraits sponsored by F. Dick Knives. A Butchery contest sponsored by F. Dick Knives and Work Sharp Culinary saw Chef Daniel Barron taking home the crown after besting 3 other chefs in breaking down a 107 rib into perfectly frenched rib eyes. A beer chugging contest sponsored by 10 Barrel Brewing Co. got the crowd fired up with a sweet Big Frig cooler stuffed with 10 Barrel swag as the top prize.
