Lunar Dinner Series

On Sunday, October 30 2016 Executive Chef Michael Poompan and guest celebrity Chef Sara Polczynski welcomed guests to a Oaxacan Lunar Feast, the second of three in the Lunar Dinner Series at the Marriott Coronado Island Resort & Spa in San Diego, California.

The dinner featured authentic flavors and ingredients from the Oaxaca region of Mexico, each course was paired with wine from Adobe Guadalupe and cocktails from Baja Food & Wine. Standout dishes included fried crickets, aguas frescas and sopes de chorizo as appetizers, while the main course two types of mole where served: Mole Negro, made up of more than 30 different ingredients, one of them being of rich Mexican chocolate, and Mole Rojo with an added kick of Pasilla and Ancho chilies. The dinner ended with an array of Oaxacan treats of capirotada a Mexican chocolate bread pudding, hot chocolate rich with cinnamon and traditional Oaxacan Chocolate, and frozen popsicles flavored with coconut and passion fruit-guava.

The third and final event in the Lunar Dinner Series will be held on Sunday, December 11.
