Barilla‘s Bayou to the Bay contest is back! Once again, we have teamed up with Barilla to give US-based and Canadian* chefs and cooks the opportunity to win BIG by letting their creativity soar with Barilla pasta. The grand prize winner will win a spot on life-changing, career-elevating Barilla Modern Casual retreat at John Folse’s White Oak Plantation in Baton Rouge, June 3-7th, 2019. The grand prize winner will also receive a custom Jende knife roll and Chef’s Roll swag. The grand prize is worth nearly $3,000. Are you ready??
Show us your best example of Southern-inspired cooking that incorporates Barilla pasta, drawing on influences of cooking styles from the Louisiana Bayou to the Chesapeake Bay. Register below, and up to 500 US-based chefs and cooks will be selected to receive a sample box of Barilla pasta (Including their Collezione Bucatini and Casarecce; plus Semolina Campanelle and Fettuccine) to use in creating an entry.
*Canada-based chefs will not be eligible to receive a free box of Barilla pasta due to shipping restrictions, but will still be able to enter by making a dish with Barilla pasta that they purchase (Except those based in Quebec, who are ineligible to compete due to provincial laws). US-based chefs not selected to receive the sample boxes will also still be able to compete, but must purchase their own Barilla pasta to do so.

We’ll announce the Top 10 finalists on Tuesday, April 30th, and the Grand Prize winner on Wednesday, May 1st! Everyone who wins a spot in the Top 10 will be shipped a copy of the Encyclopedia of Cajun & Creole Cuisine by John Folse. If you make it into the Top 10, you’ll also get your dish shared and credited on the Chef’s Roll Instagram page, so make sure to include your Instagram handle when submitting.
If you don’t win the Grand Prize, you’ll still be in the running for the People’s Choice Prize: a $250 TrueCooks gift card, a $250 “Spice Makeover” credit to Spiceology, and an assortment of Chef’s Roll gear, including a Chef’s Roll Cap, custom Sharpies, and stickers.
To have a chance at becoming the people’s champion, you can send all of your friends, family, and followers to vote for your entry in our submission gallery. The entry with the most votes by the end of the day on Tuesday, April 30th, will win the People’s Choice prize! If the entry with the most votes is also selected as Grand Prize winner, the People’s Choice award will go to the entry with the second-most votes.

One winner will get to attend the Barilla Modern Casual trip to John Folse’s White Oak Plantation in Baton Rouge, June 3-7, 2019. Trip includes round trip airfare from airport closest to the winner’s home, 4 nights hotel stay, all meals, all transportation while in Louisiana, welcome gift, and culinary training. The grand prize winner will also receive a custom Jende knife roll and a Chef’s Roll cap.
