The Chef’s Roll

The Chef’s Roll 💯 is our way of showing additional recognition to chefs in our global community. When a chef really stands out, we want to shine a spotlight on them. It could be due to work in their community, or their continual support of ours…they could be an amazing mentor or just damn inspiring…there is no set requirement. Let us know who you feel should be a part of the Chef’s Roll 💯 award recipients by filling out the nomination form below.

What is the 💯 all about? According to dictionary.com the 💯 emoji is used in digital communication to express or emphasize achievement, support, approval, and motivation. It also generally means “absolutely” or “keep it 100” (keep it real).

Recipients of the Chef’s Roll 💯 designation will be sent a special Chef’s Roll 💯 plaque that can be displayed in their kitchen or other location of their choosing. They can also use the Chef’s Roll 💯 designation on their social media bios. They will be featured on our website and social channels and receive special Chef’s Roll swag and gear.

Chef’s Roll 💯 Recipients

Chef James Canter :: Awarded May 2022

We first met Chef James Canter in Las Vegas at the World Food Championships, just when Chef’s Roll was starting out. It was a chance meeting, but he’s been rolling with us ever since. He flew out to Miami for our Versace Mansion event, cooked at our Night in Hill Country, and even flew out to our Beefsteak in San Diego – our first event since the pandemic hit. He’s participated in a bunch of our online contests and won a couple. Besides being one of the most long time active members of Chef’s Roll, anyone that follows him on social knows how much of his time and sweat he spends helping others.  Down in Texas they’ve got a lot of disasters – hurricanes, floods, ice storms – this Chef is out feeding and helping at all of them…Jose Andres has World Central Kitchen and James is like Texas Central Kitchen… For all these reasons and more we welcome him into the Chef’s Roll 💯.

Chef Maeve Rochford :: Awarded May 2022

Chef Maeve Rochford, owner and executive chef of Sugar and Scribe has been involved with Chef’s Roll for many years, starring in multiple films and participating in our events, including cooking at our Tower Awards. Besides kicking ass on TV, including winning Food Network’s Holiday Baking Championship, she excels in business….her restaurant is one of the most beloved in La Jolla, she kills it shipping nationwide on Goldbelly and even has her own bakeware line. But above all else, it’s her commitment to her team that really inspires us. Her dedication to them during the pandemic was truly inspirational.  For all these reasons and more we welcome her into the Chef’s Roll 💯.

Chef Brother Luck :: Awarded March 2022

Much more than an amazing Chef with an interesting name, Brother caught our eye on Top Chef season 15, not only due to his cooking chops, but his kindness and positive attitude. We were fortunate to meet him at the James Beard Award ceremony in 2018 where he was cooking. It was an honor when Brother started entering some of our online culinary contests, winning a couple not surprisingly. Beyond the slew of awards and nominations we’ve seen him rack up, including James Beard “Best Chef” Semi-finalist, what really caught our attention was his huge heart. Anyone that follows him on Instagram will know what an open book he is when it comes to mental health and his championing of creating awareness in that space. But beyond words, his actions speak loud. His spirit is indefatigable when it comes to helping others, raising thousands of dollars for those in need. Most currently he took a recently homeless chef under his wing to ensure his new business would be a success and he’d never be homeless again. For all these reasons and more, we salute Chef Brother Luck and welcome him into the Chef’s Roll 💯!
