I grew up around food. When I was little, my grandmother and her friends would always have cookouts on Friday nights. The food, fun, laughter, and environment all made me want to get into food. I would sit around and watch her cook from scratch and join in when I could. I started off working in the fast food industry. My first job was working at Wendy's then Back Yard Burger in Memphis. I learned a lot from the businesses but I wanted to take my skills a to another level. Culinary School was my goal, but I needed a way to get there. I joined the United States Marine Corps in 2003 to follow the family tradition of serving our country, and it would help pay for college. I did 8 honorable years in the Corps, and decided now was the time to expand my knowledge in the culinary field. I applied at the Art Institute California San Diego in October 2011. Over the next 3 years I attained an AA in savory, an AA in Baking and Pastry, and a BS in Culinary Management. Now, I will continue to accomplish my goal of owning my own restaurant and providing that same food, fun, and laughter I grew up around for the people around the world.
